County Drainage District #1 of Galveston County, Texas was created
by a vote of the people in 1908 under the provisions of Section
59 of Article XVI of the Texas Constitution for the sole purpose
of the reclamation and drainage of its' overflowed lands and
other lands needing drainage. It was vested with all the rights,
powers, privileges and duties conferred and imposed by the General
Laws of the State of Texas,
The District's primary activities include construction, maintenance
and operation of drainage control facilities.
County Drainage District #1 handles the large drainage
ditches that drain to the Bayous.
